Table Tennis England have named a 13-strong squad for the European Youth Championships in Romania next month.

The team is spearheaded by Denise Payet and Charlotte Bardsley in the Junior Girls category – both have been part of the Senior England picture and were part of the Team World Cup squad and, in Payet’s case, the Commonwealth Games and World Team Championships.

The Junior team is completed by Megan Gidney, who won team bronze alongside Payet and America’s Amy Wang at the Spanish Youth Open, Junior Boys’ national champion Joe Clark and, with an eye on the future, Darcie Proud who steps up from the Cadets.

The Cadet team includes Ruby Chan and Jasmin Wong, who have had recent success on the international stage, winning doubles bronze at the Spanish Youth Open. The line-up is completed by Anaya Patel, Millie Rogove, Amirul Hussain, Jamie Liu, Louis Price and Josh Weatherby.

Seven of the eight Cadets won at least one medal at the recent Cadet 6 Nations in Germany, while Rogove is also given an opportunity to step up a level.

The competition takes place in Cluj-Napoca from July 15 to 24 and includes both team and individual events.
